With the aim of supporting Salvadoran women in their sustainable economic development, AES, through its AES Mujer program, carried out the Empretec workshop, an initiative designed by the United Nations to strengthen the entrepreneurial capacities of the beneficiaries.
AES El Salvador, together with the Business Foundation for Social Action (FUNDEMAS), held the twelfth edition of the “AES Mujer – Empretec” workshop, from which 21 women entrepreneurs graduated who will promote sustainable economic development.
During the training, the participants learned to create a business plan, know their potential customers, strengthen their entrepreneurial skills and apply new technologies to promote their products.
For the first time, AES developed this workshop in the western part of the country, benefiting women from the department of Santa Ana. Some of the beneficiaries are relatives of workers of the energy distributor AES CLESA, while others are users of the Salvadoran Institute for the Development of Women (ISDEMU).
Among the beneficiaries is Johana Hernández, an artist from Santa Ana in the Chalchuapa district, started her business of painting mandalas (spiritual symbolic representations) with the aim of bringing peace and tranquility to the women of her community.
Johana said, “I felt like I was lacking the knowledge to better understand my customers. Now, with the AES Mujer-Empretec workshop, I have learned techniques to be more competitive and attract new investors.”
Idalia, a beekeeper from Santa Ana who also graduated from the program, shared her similar thoughts, “I always dreamed of having a business that would take care of bees and the environment. Now that I have it Thanks to Empretec, I am learning the necessary techniques to obtain the best profitability from my products.”
With this entrepreneurial training program, AES and Fundemas are having a positive impact on the business culture of Salvadoran women, promoting inclusion and female economic empowerment.
