AES El Salvador and Plaza Comercial Pasares inaugurate a new EV charging station in La Libertad

December 12, 2024

El Salvador takes another step toward a greener, more sustainable future with the expansion of its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, enabling long-distance travel across the country.

In collaboration with Blink Charging, AES El Salvador has launched a new EV charging station at Plaza Comercial Pasares, located on the Quezaltepeque Highway, kilometer 35 ½, in San Juan Opico, La Libertad. This charging station is part of a new network of ten commercial chargers installed in 2024, adding to the ten installed in 2023. Together, these 20 public chargers are strategically located to promote sustainable transportation in the country.

Through its Solutions Division, AES emphasized that EV owners can reduce “range anxiety” with more than 300 kilometers of charging points available, allowing for seamless travel across the western, central, and eastern regions of the country.

All stations in the AES / Blink partnership operate on a self-service model. Using the Blink Charging Mobile app, users can create a profile and add a payment method to charge their EVs.

On average, electric vehicles offer a driving range of approximately 350 kilometers, sufficient for daily commutes or trips across the country, thanks to the expanding charging station network.

Plaza Comercial Pasares, as part of Inversiones Bolívar, reaffirms its commitment to building social and environmental well-being through its various lines of business. This is why it joins as a strategic partner for installing the first electric charging station in San Juan Opico, La Libertad.

“As a certified B Corporation, at Inversiones Bolívar we lead with purpose, integrating sustainability into each of our projects to contribute to developing key infrastructure that promotes sustainable mobility and clean transportation. This effort reflects our vision for the future: to generate a positive impact, prioritizing collective well-being in the communities where we work,” said Héctor Delgado, Marketing Director of Inversiones Bolívar.

Plaza Comercial Pasares joins the effort to accelerate the future of sustainable mobility by becoming a strategic partner in establishing a new charging station in El Salvador. This collaboration strengthens the partners' commitment to advancing green transportation and building critical infrastructure to support this technology.

AES El Salvador and its strategic partners will continue working together to install new charging points, connecting over 325 kilometers of routes and providing EV drivers greater peace of mind for long-distance travel within the country.

Through these actions, AES El Salvador continues its commitment to zero-emission transportation, reducing noise pollution and hazardous waste, and accelerating the future of energy.

AES El Salvador’s commitment to electromobility

Currently, AES El Salvador operates a network of 55 charging stations, 35 of which are dedicated to its internal fleet of EVs and are located at operational facilities. The remaining 20 stations are part of the commercial charging network established at strategic partner locations in alliance with Blink.

The company's fleet also includes 23 electric vehicles used for operational purposes by its distribution companies. By 2025, AES aims to expand its EV fleet and further grow its network of public access charging points.
